Unanimous decision on Burton Wold wind farm
On Tuesday 29th March 2012, Cratus helped renewable energy developer Infinergy secure planning permission on Burton Wold Wind Farm South.
Burton Wold is a well known renewable energy project in Northamptonshire, just east of Burton Latimer and north of Finedon. The wind farm currently consists of 10 turbines, with the capacity to produce electricity for about 8,500 households every year – a quarter of Kettering Borough’s households.
The newly granted permission concerns an extension to the south of the site but is not the first extension: in 2007 Kettering Borough Council approved plans for an additional 7 turbines to the north.
The new wind farm makes a southern extension of 5 wind turbines and will complete the Burton Wold site, as technical constraints make further extensions highly unlikely. When completed, Burton Wold Wind Farm will have a total of 22 turbines.

It was like returning home with this particular project. I worked on the successful
New Albion Wind Farm before joining Cratus and that was a few miles north from Burton Wold. While the local population have grown accustomed to Wind Farms, we took no risks and with our client we made sure the Political and Community consultation was as extensive as if this was the first ever such application to Kettering and the people of Burton Wold. We were right to do so and the unanimous support from all Councillors on the planning committee was our reward.
