Julia is the former leader of Waverley Borough Council. During her time as Leader she delivered the Brightwells regeneration scheme – a £120m+ development in Farnham, adopted the Local Plan for housing across the borough and undertook a complete restructure of the council ensuring more responsive services and key performance targets for directors and heads of service.
Prior to leading the council Julia served as a member of the Executive as Deputy Leader and portfolio holder for Finance, Leisure, Culture ,Young People, Parks & Countryside, overseeing responsibility for the successful 2012 Olympic Torch relay through the borough, delivering £15m+ investment into new leisure facilities in multiple locations across the borough. Julia was tasked with designing and achieving stakeholder buy in for the Local Plan, which was later adopted by full council and forms the basis for the £200m+ Dunsfold development.
External to the council, Julia sat on boards for EM3 LEP, the EM3 LEP Leaders board and Surrey Leaders, during which time she had regular contact with The Housing Minister, The Minister for Local Government and numerous local MPs who held Ministerial positions within the government.
Before entering public service Julia worked in FMCG industry in Senior Sales, Marketing and Training roles for Procter & Gamble and Coty Inc. dealing with product placement strategy and implementation, business development, business appraisal analysis, change management, training and mentoring. Julia then ran her own business consultancy focussed on Sales Training and Market research within the FMCG sector.
