29.01.16

Chris Roberts is one of five local people are to be given the Freedom of the Royal Borough of Greenwich for their long-standing service to the area and its residents. The announcement was made following a decision made by the full Council on 27 January.

Chris was Leader of the Council for 14 years during which time the Borough secured ‘Royal’ status for Greenwich, co-hosted the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012.

A Special Meeting of the Council will be called in the coming weeks to confirm Freedom of the Borough status for these long standing members of the community.

Nick Kilby, CEO of Cratus, said

We are delighted for Chris in being recognised in this way for his work in Greenwich. He is a passionate advocate for all things local and we are very proud that he is our Deputy Chairman. We also congratulate the other four recipients, two of which are also long serving councillors.
