Planning permission for Portland Gardens

01.12.15

Members of Wycombe District Council voted on the 18th November 2015 to approve Crest Nicholson’s plans for 71 new homes at Portland Gardens in Marlow town centre.

Cratus had supported Crest Nicholson by providing community and political engagement for the project for over 18 months. The site, located just off of the main High Street in Marlow was a controversial one with a long planning history. As such a large portion of the local community had an interest in the future of the site.

Ben Sherreard, Executive Director of Cratus Planning said:

“Cratus worked hard with the myriad local stakeholders to understand and interpret the different aspirations for the site. Portland Gardens is clearly a very important location to the town and to the residents. By working with local residents and councillors we were able to help shape the proposals into scheme that enjoyed widespread support from residents, members and the local Chamber of Trade.

“Not everyone locally supported the plans. However we were able to demonstrate high levels of support within the local community to the membership and it was clear that even those who were against the plans had been given the opportunity to feed into the final design for the site.”

This result gives Cratus a 100% success rate on sites this year. If you have a project that requires planning permission and require community and political engagement contact Ben at Cratus on 020 3198 5790.
