Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government
Our focus is the local political world. Constantly changing national policy directing councils on housing numbers and types of home as well as ministerial call ins of planning decisions often being a possibility for your site means national cannot be ignores. We understand how central government operates and can support you in responding to and engaging with ministers and their officials at the Ministry. We have successfully helped with presenting evidence in policy debates, representations on green and white papers and have represented clients during call in of their planning applications.
We have also worked on behalf of clients when decisions taken by local planning authorities have been challenged in the High Court and the Court of Appeal and on one occasion when it was attempted to have a case taken up to the Supreme Court.
Mayor of London
London has its own variation of local government. London has the Greater London Authority which has oversight of Transport, Policing, the Fire Services and Planning, their powers are those that for other regions are held by the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government.
Cratus has extensive experience of working with the Mayor, Sadiq Khan and his deputy mayors for Planning, Housing, Transport and the Environment.
Local and Neighbourhood Plans
Cratus is skilled in supporting clients regarding District Local Plans and Neighbourhood Plans.
- We have successfully advocated and promoted the land interests of clients so they are included in local and neighborhood plans, these range from urban extensions with supporting infrastructure to whole new communities.
- Cratus, in association with leading planning consultants, has created and managed forums to being together the development community to work together on non-site specific issues and to share costs and reduce duplication during the EiP. This has been highly effective and other forums are in the process of being formed. We are happy to discuss forming further forums where the need to bring together the development community is clear.
